At the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, you have the opportunity to take part in a two-year Double Degree master's programme in collaboration with Università degli studi di Milano, Italy.

After successful completion of the two master’s programmes you will receive two official master’s degrees, one from FPN and one from Milan. The master’s programme in Milan is in English.
Programme outline
Year 1 at FPN
• Compulsory modules of the FPN master track WOP or HSP
• Co-supervised master's Thesis Project. The student will write his/her master's Thesis in English. The thesis will be
co-supervised by FPN and Milan. (40/30 ECTS)
Please note: Make sure that your supervisors do not hand in the grade for your thesis because you then automatically graduate and your re-registration at the Maastricht University will be considered as a second master, you will be required to pay the higher, institutional tuition fee!
Year 2 in Milan
• Applied cognitive Psychology (6 ECTS)
• Functional cognitive and restorative neurosciences in normal and dysfunctional brain:
- Module: Pharmacology (6 ECTS)
- Module: Cellular and molecular basis of cognition in health and diseases (12 ECTS)
• Neuroscience and mental health (6 ECTS)
• Neuromodulation (6 ECTS)
• Philosophy of mind (6 ECTS)
• Two elective modules (12 ECTS)
• Either elective laboratory activity, or stage, or internship (or all) (12 ECTS)
• The thesis defense will take place at Milan in July (!)
Please note that in Italy for all students a graduation fee is applicable which cannot be waived. (Ref. in 2023 € 135,- subject to annual indexation)

Tuition fees
Throughout the entire two-year Double Degree programme (so also during your stay in Milan!) you remain registered and pay tuition fees to Maastricht University. You do not have to pay tuition fees to Milan.
Erasmus+ grant
Provided you meet the conditions, you can apply for an Erasmus+ grant for your stay in Milan through the International Relations Office. More information >>
