Academic calendar, e-mail, UM card, Student Portal, My Timetable, register for education

The academic calendar and course overviews

The academic calendar is a schedule of important dates and deadlines for your programme. It is designed to help you manage your time effectively and to ensure that you are aware of all important academic events and deadlines.

The course overview for your programme shows you which courses, practicals, workshops etc. are offered in which period. It also shows the name of your course coordinator and the number of credits you can earn for each course.

You can find your academic calendar and course overviews on AskPsy

Your UM e-mail account

Every new student receives an email account from Maastricht University (UM) which should be used from then on for all correspondence with the university. When your UM account is ready, we will notify you at the email address you used in Studielink. Problems logging in? Please checkwww.maastrichtuniversity.nl/myaccount

The email account is accessible via webmail.

Your UM card

The UM card is a smart card for students, staff and (some) visitors. The UM card is your official identification within the University. Only with this card can you enter UM buildings, car parks and other facilities.

The UM card can also be used to pay for food and drinks at various UM outlets and vending machines. You can also use it to identify yourself at test locations, to print at UM or to borrow books from the UM Library.
When your UM card is ready to be collected, we will notify you at the email address you used in Studielink.

The Student Portal

The Student Portal is an online platform where you can access a range of academic and administrative services such as My Timetable, Canvas and your grades. It serves as a central hub for managing various aspects of your academic life.

My Timetable

My Timetable is an online tool that provides a personalised schedule of your courses, lectures, tutorials, and other academic activities. Your timetable will be published on My Timetable approximately two weeks prior to the start of an academic period. For example: for period 1 the timetable will be published on 15 August 2024.

You can find instructions for My Timetable on the UM website.
You can also link My Timetable to your personal calendar application. Once they have been linked, your teaching schedules will automatically be imported into your personal calendar, with easy access to your schedules!

Register for education

You can only attend a course with a valid registration. Course and/or exam registration is only possible during the UM registration windows. Course registration includes the exam right after the course.

Do I have to register for courses?

- If you are a new bachelor Psychology or Brain Science student, you will be registered for all courses in period 1, 2 and 3. As of period 4 you will have to register for your courses yourself.
- If you are a new master Psychology, Forensic Psychology or Research Master Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience student, you will be registered for all courses in period 1. As of period 2, you will have to register for your courses yourself. Registration deadline period 2: 15 September 2024.
- If you are a student enrolled in a pre-master, the master Mental Health
or the International Joint Master of Research in Work and Organizational Psychology you are exempt from registration for courses. All your courses will be registered for you.
- If you are an exchange or study abroad student at FPN, you will be registered for all courses. You will not have to register for any courses yourself. The FPN International Relations Office (IRO) is your first point of contact.

You follow a specific programme, so you only need to register for the courses in your programme.
You can register in advance for all periods of the academic year. This way you don't have to worry about course registration for the rest of the academic year.
Once you have registered, you can change your course registration up until the deadlines of the booking window.
