Revision bachelor Psychology

The revision of the curriculum for the bachelor Psychology is scheduled to start in the 2024-2025 academic year. It is important to note that the revision of this bachelor does not imply any shortcomings in the current curriculum. The existing curriculum is valuable and meaningful. The revised bachelor’s programme covers many topics from the current curriculum, but they will be presented in different ways or periods.

From the academic year 2024-2025 onwards, new students enrolling in the bachelor Psychology will follow the revised curriculum. As you belong to the last cohort primarily following the current curriculum, there may be exceptional cases where changes in the curriculum could affect you.

I am on track; does the revision change anything for me?

If you are on track and meeting all requirements and progressing as expected, the curriculum revision will not impact you. You can continue and complete your current curriculum within the designated time frame.

What if I did not complete a module?

If you have faced challenges in completing a module, we will provide you with the opportunity for one additional year to retake the module(s) you did not pass, through repeat education. This opportunity extends to both theoretical modules and practicals.

Please note: you can only repeat a course once, in the subsequent academic year: first-year modules in the academic year 2024-2025, second-year modules in 2025-2026, and third-year modules in 2026-2027. You will repeat the exact same module that you did not pass.

For example:
If you started your bachelor Psychology in the academic year 2023-2024, and you did not pass the "Body & Behaviour" module in the first year, you will be allowed to complete the module in the subsequent academic year 2024-2025, in terms of both attendance and final assessment. The booking information will be published on AskPsy.nl ahead of the booking windows.

Please note: the Binding Study Advice remains, meaning that you need to pass a minimum of 42 ECTS, including M&T or Statistics I, for the academic year 2023-2024.

Discontinuation of the current curriculum

At some point, the current curriculum will be phased out, and repeat education will no longer be offered. During the transition period, your studies will continue as usual, maintaining the same high standard of education.
We will provide personalized solutions if you still have courses to complete after the phase-out. These solutions may include transitioning to the revised curriculum, completing additional assignments or exams, or extending submission deadlines. The specific details of the personalized transitional arrangements will be final from the 2024-2025 academic year, and depend on individual circumstances.
